A personal message from Rory G. Ritrievi
As the end of 2013 draws near, I look back with great pride on the milestones the Mid Penn Bank team has reached over the past year. I am pleased to share with you these achievements and the growth resulting from them.
We consider loan growth to be one of our top improvements in 2013. Our year over year loan growth now exceeds 9%, a number significantly higher than the average growth rate over the past five years. The quality of our loan portfolio also improved throughout the year. We have made several positive changes within the portfolio, ultimately helping to strengthen our asset quality index.
In 2013, we also worked to improve our deposit product offerings, including the introduction of our new My Savings account for children. This program not only offers account features to help children develop sound saving habits, but also offers incentives to further promote the importance of financial literacy. One of these incentives is our new Summer Reading program, which awards $10 to children who read 10 books during the summer months.
We also spent 2013 further strengthening our commitment to support our local communities. Not only did we provide monetary donations, but also the donation of our employees’ time to local nonprofits including United Way of the Capital Region, American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley, Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Dauphin County Library System. Additionally, we awarded $6,000 in academic scholarships to local deserving high school seniors through our Anna Woodside Scholarship, Best Attendance Scholarship and Valedictorian Scholarships.
Mid Penn Bank was named one of the top 100 Best Places to Work in PA for the second consecutive year. Not only are we proud to have earned this designation yet again, but we are also proud to have a top-notch group of employees that makes every effort to provide the best customer service possible.
As we look back on all we have accomplished, I am confident that we will continue strong in the coming months—and years—as we work to make Mid Penn Bank even better for our customers, shareholders and fellow community members.
On behalf of the entire Mid Penn Bank team, I wish you an enjoyable and memorable holiday season, and the very best in 2014.
